Moveable Sound is a mobile recording practice that brings professional music production into regional and remote environments. Instead of relying on a fixed studio, it transforms spaces such as halls, woolsheds, lighthouses, homes, and community buildings into temporary recording sites, where the character of each location becomes part of the sound.

It’s a response to how hard it is to access studios in regional areas, but also a creative choice: capturing something real, immediate, and tied to place. At its core, it’s about movement, connection, and making music where people actually live, not where the industry says it should happen.

Selected Projects & Cultural Development Work

Hometowns (2019–2022)

Hometowns was a regional touring initiative delivered by independent labels Dinosaur City and Spunk Records, bringing Australian artists back to their hometowns to perform in community halls, cinemas and regional venues across New South Wales. Working as a programmer, producer and recording engineer, I helped develop and deliver the tour while recording performances for the live compilation album Hometowns: Back to Where it Began. The project connected artists with local audiences and demonstrated the cultural value of regional touring. It was also an early example of my interest in mobile and location-based recording, capturing music in community spaces beyond traditional studio environments.

Stranded – Heart of the Illawarra

Stranded Heart of the Illawarra was a Create NSW funded recording project that invited five Illawarra artists and bands to perform original music in a series of live studio sessions at Stranded Recording Studio. Each performance was professionally recorded, filmed and released to audiences throughout the program. The project combined artist development, live performance and high-quality recording outcomes while celebrating the depth and diversity of the region's music community. By employing local musicians, videographers and creatives, the project strengthened connections across the local arts sector and demonstrated how regional recording studios can operate as both creative hubs and community cultural spaces.

Stranded – At The Studio

Stranded – At The Studio was a six-week music development program delivered in partnership with Bulli High School, supporting young songwriters to create and record their first original songs. Working directly with students as a producer and recording engineer, I guided participants through songwriting, arrangement, recording and production within a professional studio environment. The program provided practical skills, creative confidence and direct access to music industry processes often unavailable to young regional artists. Each participant completed an original recording while gaining a deeper understanding of the creative and technical pathways available within contemporary music practice.
